FAQ

  • What is Praise Dance (讚美操)?
    Praise Dance is a series of exercises carefully choreographed to meditative as well as catchy music and designed to work out the whole body. The routines incorporate elementary-level movements from various dance and exercise genres e.g. tai chi, ballet, cha cha, tango, haiwaian, marches, hip hop and others.
  • Who can join? Must I be very fit?
    Praise Dance is open to people of all ages and with varying levels of physical fitness. We do encourage participants to “listen” to their bodies and do only what is comfortable according to their physical condition.
  • What if I have 2 left feet?
    The aim of Praise Dance is to allow participants to exercise in community with others in a fun-filled and non-intimidating environment. There is no pressure to perform and no one to impress. Participants just need to follow the instructor(s), have fun dancing and encourage one another in the process. Many have experienced improved flexibility and physical coordination with regular practice over time.
  • Can I take a break in between if I cannot last the whole hour?
    Yes, of course. Stop and rest anytime in between if you must.
  • Do I need to register before joining Praise Dance in BLC?
    No, you don’t need to pre-register before joining. But we do need you to fill in a BLC Visitor’s Form when you join for the first time. Thereafter, we will mark attendance every session.
  • How long is each session? How should I dress for Praise Dance?
    Each session is approximately 1hr and 15mins in duration. Come dressed in cool, comfortable exercise clothes and sneakers.
  • What must I bring to a Praise Dance session?
    Suggested things to bring: • A hand towel A change of clothes (if you perspire easily)
